Lauren + Chris Shelley and Tony
July 26, 2013 September 27, 2013
In 2013 I had the honor of photographing 2 weddings for the same family – the Vallario siblings, Lauren and Tony. For this project, I couldn’t imagine not including them and seeing where life has taken them since their weddings.

Any big milestones since your wedding day?
2 beautiful children, a house and lots of fun trips making happy memories.
Favorite memory from your 1st year of marriage:
Our first year or marriage was a whirlwind! We went on our dream honeymoon, bought a house and had our daughter Noelle, all before our first anniversary.
Favorite memory of your most recent year of marriage:
With the loss of our infant son, Nick, this has been the hardest year of our lives. But it has also included some our sweetest family memories. Creating memories as a family of four and watching Chris with both of our children brought me incredible happiness.
Have you learned anything new or surprising about your partner since you’ve gotten married?
I never thought it was possible for me to love Chris more than the day we got married. I always knew Chris was strong, but this year his strength was tested in unimaginable ways. This year, I learned I didn’t just marry the marry the man of my dreams, I married a superhero – and knowing that makes me want to marry him all over again.
Piece of advice you’d give other people getting married:
Anyone can make you happy and feel special in the good times, but it’s how your partner lifts you up and won’t let you fall in the worst of times that defines them and thus your life together.

Any big milestones since your wedding day?
Since our wedding day we have had many major milestones! We bought a home and moved to the suburbs, both got new jobs, and then had the love of our lives, our sweet baby James, who isn’t a baby anymore…. he just turned two this August and we want him to stop growing so fast!
Favorite memory from your 1st year of marriage:
Our favorite memory from our first year of marriage would have to be living the child-free life in Hoboken, the city where we met and fell in love. It’s a place that holds so many memories for us and brought us so much joy. We will bring James there when he’s old enough to appreciate it, and secretly hope he lives there as an adult so we can have a reason to go there more!
Favorite memory of your most recent year of marriage:
Our 4th year of marriage has been quite the year, being working parents of a very rambunctious little boy. We are always on the go and cherish every moment we have just the 3 of us together, which does not happen often. So we would have to say that our favorite memory(ies) from our most recent year of marriage have been those spent together, taking James to new places and watching him experience new things.
Have you learned anything new or surprising about your partner since you’ve gotten married?
New, yet not surprising, is that neither one of us has a knack for yard work/landscaping or is very handy around the house. We have a hard time keeping even potted plants alive and don’t trust ourselves with anything more than screwing in a lightbulb or hanging a picture… at least we can admit our weaknesses!
Piece of advice you’d give other people getting married:
Always date your partner! We try to go on dates at least once a month, sometimes more, to stay connected and have fun just the two of us!
